Back and bigger than ever?? the Monticello Mercantile May Market will be taking over downtown with their annual spring market event. Kicking off at 10am on Sunday, May 4th, over 100 vendors will be set up in downtown, offering a mix of anything from food products, handmade goods, clothing boutiques, and artisan goods. Featured vendors this year are Cedar Lake Garden and Gifts, and Hedge to Edge/the Mow&R Shop, who will have nursery stock on hand, mulch to order, and small lawn and garden equipment for sale. In addition to the many vendors on display, 18 downtown storefronts will be open for shoppers to stop in and explore. A variety of food trucks will be set up featuring smoked ribs, mini donuts, coffee, and traditional fair food; or visitors can stop into one of the restaurants in downtown to enjoy a bite to eat or drink. There will also be live performances from Leighton Ewers, the Monticello High School and Middle School jazz bands, and the Urbana High School jazz band. Spectators can bring up a chair, or sit on the courthouse lawn to hear these talented groups. The event runs Sunday, May 4th from 10am – 4pm in downtown Monticello. Stay up to date on event information by following the May Market on the Square event page on the Monticello Mercantile Facebook page. In the event of inclement weather, this event will be cancelled.
