Diversity

Champaign-Urbana has the second highest number of international students of all public universities in the U.S., with students who come from more than 115 countries. You’ll find an abundance of international markets, festivals, ethnic restaurants, cultural centers, diverse houses of worship and foreign language media outlets here in CU.

Affordability

Silicon Valley is great, particularly if you don’t mind paying $3,500 per month for a studio apartment that will only accommodate a twin mattress and a mini-fridge. If you’re looking for a little more room and a more relaxed lifestyle, Champaign-Urbana is waiting. The good news? While earning the same as you would in many Silicon Valley jobs, you’ll pay a lot less for, well, just about everything. Oh, and we only have an average 14-minute commute time.

Active Lifestyle

Surrounded by natural beauty that includes more than 1,077 acres of city parks and 26 miles of trails, the residents of Champaign-Urbana have embraced an outdoor, active lifestyle. With ample bike lanes throughout the area, there is a growing contingent of workers who bike to work every day. And, with bountiful area farms, CSAs and community gardens, there is no shortage of healthy, affordable food.
