Celebrating the 4th of July this year might look a little different, but there's still plenty to do! Here are some Outside of Ordinary ideas to consider as you plan to celebrate Independence Day!

Rantoul freedom Fridays kick-off - july 3rd

Freedom Fridays are going to take place in downtown Rantoul starting this Friday - fittingly so on the eve of the 4th! From 6-9 p.m., bring lawn chairs, blankets, & other games to spaces around downtown with social distancing in mind. From bags tournaments to live entertainment from All Nighter, kick-off Independence Day weekend in Rantoul. Please keep in mind public health and safety; masks are encouraged.

Chicago chef Stephanie Izard introduced Girl & the Goat-ceries, a meal kit service with local pick ups and national delivery, to help people get delicious, local food during COVID-19. Prairie Fruits Farm is offering meal kits this Friday, July 3rd, including the following items:

savoy's drive-by 4th of July parade - July 4th

The Savoy Fire Department is organizing a drive-by parade perfect for the social distancing and health guidelines needed to celebrate a safe 4th of July! The route will begin at the Prairie Fields subdivision and continue through Prairie Meadows, Fieldstone, Old Savoy and Arbour Meadows, and finish things off at the Arbours Subdivision. If you won't be enjoying the parade from your home, please be sure to practice social distancing and wear a mask when you can't keep 6 feet between you and others! 

jump around at elevate with special deals - July 4th

From 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., you can do something unique with the whole family at Elevate Trampoline Park. For the 4th of July, the park is offering hourly jump rates at $4 an hour. That applies for all ages, so parents and guardians can get in on the fun as well! The early closing time makes it a perfect activity for the morning before grabbing a bite to eat, so don't miss out on this great deal!

Veterans Independence Day Salute - July 4th

From 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. on the 4th, step outside in Rantoul to honor those who served as they march in honor of Independence Day. Marching veterans will depart from the Fire Dept on Grove Street and head East to Chanute Ave then South on Chanute to Sangamon then west head back to downtown and end at the train station.
