Tuesday Trails with Terri: Robeson Park
This Tuesday is expected to be a balmy 90 degrees. Weird, I thought it was October 1. Come on, fall! Where's the cool temps!
To beat the heat, I rose early and headed to Robeson Park in Champaign to get my miles. Thanks to Facebook follower, Erik, for the suggestion! I'd been to this park many times for sports activities for my kids, but never to truly enjoy myself. It was so peaceful as the sun rose to explore and discover some new areas I didn't even know existed. It's my goal on these Tuesdays to showcase how beautiful our landscape can be, finding those Outside of Ordinary spots that keep you motivated or make you smile. This park really showed off this morning, and I managed a decent run, despite not having my coffee yet.
Here's what I saw this morning that kept me motivated:
The clouds in the sky were the first thing I noticed. A stunning view at 6:30 a.m. | The park sits in them middle of a neighborhood, and weaves in and out of some mature trees and rolling hills. | I found my way over to this trail, maintained by the Champaign Park District, which took me to my favorite part of the run. |
Once I hit this bridge, I knew the views were going to be spectacular. | The bench was calling my name, but I simply stopped for a quick pic and kept going. | Yup, there it is. The reason why running at 6:30 a.m. was actually enjoyable. |
Heading down a culvert, I turned around to snap this beauty to catch the beautiful colors over this hidden lake. | More of the stunning colors over another lake in the area. | Heading back into the main part of the park. The colors of the flowers and the sky just made for a perfect picture. |
So many bridges can be found in this park over the various waterways. | Yet another bench that is just calling for me to enjoy the sunrise. But I must keep going! | Several stops and no coffee made for a bit of a slow time this morning, but it certainly was a beautiful and Outside of Ordinary way to start my day! |
Now, where shall I run next week? Comment on our Facebook page to let me know what you want to see! |
