The Giertz Gallery at Parkland College proudly presents the 2026 "Art and Design Faculty Exhibition," opening Monday, August 17. The annual exhibition showcases the work of Parkland College faculty artists and will be on view through September 26. The exhibition features painting, drawing, ceramics, metalsmithing, and photography. Participating faculty members are Carrie Byington, Bryan Heaton, Ruth Lantz, Stephen Pritchard, Josh Schutz, Denise Seif, and Matthew Watt.

A public reception will be held on Thursday, August 20, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. At 6:15 pm, Art and Design faculty member Matthew Watt will present a gallery talk. Watt holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drawing from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Fine Arts in painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design. His work has been exhibited nationally, and he has served as a faculty member at Parkland College since 2005. His current research and creative practice focus on the psychology of visual perception.

During the fall semester, gallery hours are Monday through Wednesday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Thursday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Saturday from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The gallery will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

When campus is in session, visitors are advised to use the M6 parking lot located at the north corner of campus. Enter through door X-7, turn left, and proceed up the ramps to the highest point on the first floor, where the gallery is situated. The gallery windows provide a view of the outdoor fountain area.

Giertz Gallery acknowledges support from the Illinois Arts Council Agency. All events held in the accessible gallery are free and open to the public. Parkland College is a Section 504/ADA-compliant institution. For accommodation requests, call 217/353-2338 or email accessibilityservices@parkland.edu.
