Dr. George Godfrey, a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, presents a look at Potawatomi life in Illinois. Dr. Godfrey will explore the history and experiences of the Potawatomi people on the Trail of Death, which was a forced march of 850 people from their homes in Northern Indiana to unfamiliar lands in Eastern Kansas, passing right through Champaign County. He will also emphasize the continued presence of the Potawatomi people today. The one-hour presentation will be followed by a Q&A. Recommended for ages 15 and up.
