Learn the art of rug tufting in this beginner-friendly workshop and make a work of fiber art to keep! This session's theme is the quilt square, a symbol of sentimental family heirlooms.
The workshop begins with designing your own quilt square using a template and colored pencils. Choose your colors from a sprawling selection of yarn*. After a short lesson on how to work a tufting gun and some practice, you'll spend the rest of the class crafting your 18x18" carpet creation with plenty of guidance along the way. Class duration varies based on complexity of design and how quickly you work. Expect 3-4 hours start to finish. Should you need additional time to finish, you'll be able to either stay a little late, or schedule a follow-up time with the instructor at no additional cost.
Once your rug has been tufted, you'll glue the back of your rug and either return at a future date for the finishing steps of backing and shaving (1-2 hours), or you can leave it to the studio to complete the finishing steps (+$25) and pick up your finished rug within a couple weeks.
