Fight the Post-Restaurant Week Blues with Indoor Recreation Adventures
Each year, we’re a bit down after Restaurant Week wraps up. For one, we love getting to highlight and enjoy cuisine from a number of local restaurants. Not to mention, a week of eating amazing food can leave you feeling a little full and in need of some physical activity! Nobody should ever feel guilty about what they eat, but after a week of trying new dishes and flavors, your body might be in need of some indoor recreation adventures! Luckily, there are plenty of options in our area to help you fight the post-Restaurant Week blues!
Indoor Recreation Around Champaign County to Enjoy During the Cold
Reach New Heights by Jumping or Climbing
Two of our area’s indoor rec favorites are ready to take you to new heights. For the more action-ready visitors and residents, Elevate Trampoline Park is an amazing place to play as a kid or adult! From open jump hours to adult dodgeball leagues, you’ll soon burn off those Restaurant Week calories in a matter of minutes. If you’re not up for jumping, how about climbing at Urbana Boulders. If you’re new to climbing, then have no fear! You can get your hands on the wall for the first time, or return as an experienced climber, and still have a total blast.
Swim Indoors at a Local Aquatic Center
Once you’ve waited 30 minutes after eating your last Restaurant Week meal, you might be ready for a dip in the pool! Spoiler alert: cold weather probably froze every pool outdoors. Luckily, you can grab a suit and walk (don’t run, pool rules) over to the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center. With hours for open swim, adult swim, and even lessons for non-swimmers, you can get your summer swimming fix in February!
Skate at the Rink – Whether on Ice or Roller Skates!
Feeling up for a skate? If you’re ready to hit the roller rink, then we’ll see you at Savoy’s Skateland, which features fun specials every day of the week. If you’re up for more of an ice experience, then how about checking out free skate at the UI Ice Arena? Both locations feature rentals, so don’t fret over bringing your own skates.
Hit the Gym!
If you’re worried about the toll Restaurant Week has taken, you might be ready to hit the gym! One of the Champaign Park District’s newest facilities, the Leonhard Recreation Center, is an incredible facility with room to walk, run, lift, and burn away those calories! With open gym hours for sports like basketball and volleyball, and fitness classes to attend with a friend, any personal fitness interest is covered. Plus, there are gyms all over the area where you can work up a sweat and say goodbye to your Restaurant Week food-coma.
