Join the Champaign County Historical Museum to get a chance to not only learn about Mid-Century Modern buildings but to tour them as well, including rare opportunities to see inside private homes.
Participants will get the chance to tour the First Presbyterian Church of Urbana, Bethel AME Church in Champaign, Hessel Park Christian Reformed Church, the Grice-Stauffer-Mette House, the Stendler-Sheets House, the Lane-Malik House, and a special return visit to the Erlanger House in Urbana! Join us to come to a better appreciation and explore Mid-Century Modern homes and buildings in the CU!
The tour begins at 10am at the First Presbyterian Church in Urbana with a panel discussion, dance performance, and viewing of the sanctuary. The remaining six properties will be open for tour from 1pm - 5pm. Even if you are unable to attend the morning's activities, you will need to go to the First Presbyterian Church in Urbana by noon to pick up your tickets, which are required for entry into the homes.
The morning panel discussion will include Scott Mehaffey, Executive Director of the Farnsworth House and National Trust for Historic Preservation, Anthony Rubano, Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer for the State of Illinois, and Rachel Liebowitz, historic preservation expert, Chicago, Illinois, moderated by Kate Holliday, Professor of Historic Preservation and American Architectural History at the University of Illinois. The panel discussion will be preceded by a new Good House Keep dance by Anna Sapozhnikov and Company.
