Le Château des Singes (A Monkey’s Tale)
French film by Jean-François Laguionie • 1999 • 1h20 • Animated film for young audiences
Kom is a young Woonkos, a tribe of monkeys who live in the Canopy and who dread falling into the lower world, which they believe to be inhabited by evil monsters. Kom refuses to believe these old legends, and out of bravado and recklessness, he finds himself propelled into the famous World of the Laankos, into the universe of the Castle of Monkeys. Saved by the king, he discovers—thanks to Gina and the wise master Flavius—the civilization and customs of the castle’s inhabitants. But if he becomes the king’s favorite, he also earns a terrible enemy in the grand chamberlain, who seeks to seize power.
