The neighborhood surrounding West Side Park is one of the
oldest and grandest neighborhoods in all of Champaign. The area between
State Street and Prospect Avenue was subdivided primarily between 1854 and 1890.
By 1900, Prospect Avenue formed the western edge of Champaign.
These stately homes served as family residences of some of
Champaign's most wealthy individuals.
The tour travels around a mile and a quarter and takes approximately
an hour so make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.
We ask that guests park their vehicles around West Side Park
and meet at the center of the park next to the fountain.
The tour will start at the designated start time so please
plan to arrive at the museum at least ten minutes before the tour is set to begin.
