Experience Forging Liberty, a special America 250 exhibit presented by the Champaign County History Museum at the Champaign Public Library from Thursday, June 18 through Sunday, June 21. This rare exhibit will bring together 21 authentic founding-era documents and artifacts from a private collection, on public display for the first time.
Highlights include:
- 1840s Peter Force copy of the Declaration of Independence, produced from William J. Stone’s copperplate engraving of the original Declaration
- The Articles of Confederation
- Paul Revere’s engraving of the Boston Massacre
- Signatures from the Founding Fathers
- King George III’s response to American independence
- George Washington letter
- Revolutionary War-era Boston map
- French and Indian War powder horn
As the nation prepares to mark 250 years of independence, this exhibit offers our community a powerful opportunity to engage with the documents, conflicts, and choices that helped forge the American experiment.
