The State Farm Center is home to Fighting Illini Men’s & Women’s basketball. This dome shaped building opened in 1963 and was only one of two edge-supported domes in the world. The iconic roof is supported by 614 miles of steel wire—that could stretch from Champaign to Jackson, Mississippi!  This 16,000 seat arena is nearly complete with major renovations which will soon include premium seating, a larger student section, welcoming entrances and, for the first time, air conditioning! In addition to hosting the Fighting Illini, the State Farm Center also holds performances for Broadway musicals, concerts and other shows. Some of the recent shows and performers to take the stage have been Aerosmith, Dave Chappelle, T.I., Elton John, Ludacris, Kanye West, Nelly, Dave Matthews, Pearl Jam, Prince and U2.
